Coach's Corner: Winter 2010 "I'm still reeling from our great showing this weekend!" Coach Guy, talking about the Trabuco Hills Tournament Jan 16 and 17. This was one of the most exciting tournaments this team has played in. Dominating wins over Laguna Hills, Aliso, and Uni, plus a hard fought one-point loss to Capo Valley shows that this team is going to be a force to reckon with in the 2010 season. Congratulations! Fall 2009 Coach Guy is coaching a Fall Lacrosse team in the Earthquake Lacrosse league this fall. This has been an excellent way to stay in shape and compliments off-season lacrosse by putting you in competitive game situations. The team is undefeated in the fall season, showing great effort and team work! Great job boys! Check out the schedule and standings at http://sites.google.com/site/earthquakelacrosse/2009-eql-fall-ball. Games are Sundays from September 20 through November 8. Fall 2009 The following quotes are from Coach Guy to the players enrolled in off-season lacrosse. Although not all players are able to participate in this class, it is important to know his expectations of anyone who wants to play in the regular season. "Most of you at the summer camp realize that I have every intention of making lacrosse a success here at NHS. This class is the first step of many, to make this program grow in popularity and success at the school. In order to compete with the high level teams in this league and county, it is essential that the skills of the team increase to meet this level. However, the only way we will get to this level will be to work hard, often. While we will not be conducting full scale practices, we will be working on all of the necessary skills that, once put together in the regular season, will amount to a strong team and program.""As a member of this team, you are a representative of every piece of this team. Remember that you are setting the expectation for what people will think of this team and program. Thus, I expect that all students and staff are treated with the same respect you would give to me and your teammates on the field. As a new sport, it is imperative that we prove ourselves each and every day. We must prove that we are good students first. Coach Guy |
